Abstract
Guttural pouch lavages were obtained from slaughtered and live horses with use of a percutaneous approach through the Viborg's triangle. Lavage was ef fective and easy to perform in live horses, and no adverse reactions were o bserved. Tranquilizers were not required. Recovery of lavage fluid ranged b etween 25% and 75% of the injected sample in live horses.
