L. Luo et M. Feidt, TRANSIENT-BEHAVIOR OF AN ADSORPTION REFRI GERATOR - EXPERIMENTAL-STUDY OF THE ALCOHOL ACTIVATED CARBON SYSTEM/, Revue générale de thermique, 36(3), 1997, pp. 159-169
The objective of this article is to present an experimental study of a
n adsorption refrigerator, accounting for the transient phenomena in e
ach component of the machine, in particular in the adsorber. The coupl
es adsorbate/adsorbent investigated (activated carbon/methanol or etha
nol) have been chosen on the basis of an earlier comparative study. We
have performed a full series of experiments to investigate the transi
ent evolution of temperatures, pressures and the cycled mass, in a dis
continuous cycle, and along the components of the refrigerating machin
e. The influence of various parameters is studied by varying one at a
time : adsorbate/adsorbent couple, alcohol load in adsorber, alcohol f
lowrate, heating power, initial desorption temperature. All these expe
rimental observations are discussed and compared to transient models d
eveloped in a separate article.
