I describe a new species of scolecomorphid caecilian based on three specime
ns from the forested slopes of Mount Tchabal Mbabo, Cameroon, Africa. This
new species differs from its congeners by lacking transverse grooves on the
collars, possessing a serrate lateral color pattern, and by characteristic
s of size and body proportions. It is the third member of the genus Crotaph
atrema and is distinctly allopatric from its congeners. I discuss the distr
ibution of C. bornmuelleri and restrict the genus to the highlands of Camer
oon.
