A field experiment was conducted during kharif 1995 and 1996 at Raipur (M.P
.) to find out the effect of spacing and fertilizer level on medium duratio
n rice varieties. The grain yield of rice under closer spacing (10 x 10 cm)
was significantly superior over wider spacing (20 x 10 cm). Higher fertili
zer level (120: 60 : 40 kg N : P2O5: K2O/ha) produced significantly more gr
ain yield compared with low fertility level (80 : 50 : 30 kg N : P2O5 : K2O
). A newly released variety 'Mahamaya' performed significantly superior ove
r other tested varieties.
