Abstract
The use of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in children and adolescents is steadily increasing. The aim of the present review was to summarize the sta tus of MIS in pediatric endocrinology, We found that laparoscopic procedure s have been proven useful for the diagnosis or treatment of endometriosis a nd its associated manifestations, undescended testicles, ambiguous genitali a, adnexal torsion and ovarian cyst. Considering the safety and efficacy of these applications, the more rapid recovery of the patients, and the consi derably less pain induced, we believe MIS will gradually take precedence ov er standard procedures in many areas of endocrinology in the young populati on.
