Abstract
Asteliamiris johnpolhemi, a new genus and new species of stenodemine Mirida e, is described from the island of Maul, in the Hawaiian Islands. Unlike mo st members of the Stenodemini which breed on grasses or sedges, both nympha l and adult stages of A. johnpolhemi are associated with Astelia menziesian a Smith, a member of the Liliaeceae. Dorsal habitus photographs, scanning e lectron micrographs of the head, scent gland efferent system, and pretarsus , illustrations of the male and female genitalia, and a distribution map ar e provided.
