Optical diagnostics is seen as an attractive and reliable nondisturbing mea
ns to measure plasma parameters. Laser induced fluorescence, laser absorpti
on, and the Fabry-Perot interferometry methods were applied to measure temp
erature and density of plasma of SUPER-ERIC installation (CEA Saclay, Franc
e). SUPER-ERIC is mainly used for isotope separation by ion cyclotron reson
ance (ICR) in the magnetic field of some Tesla. The choice and optimization
of the optical diagnostics system were made by taking into account the pre
liminary study of new properties of cw-laser beam resonant interaction with
highly magnetized ions. The diagnostics system parameters as well as the m
easured BaII and GdII plasma parameters in the ion sputtering plasma source
, in the ICR heating zone and near the ion collector are presented and disc
ussed. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical
estimations.
