Abstract
A ferroelectric KNbO3 of the barium titanate family has been investigated t o 69 GPa at room temperature by angle-dispersive powder diffraction using s ynchrotron radiation and an imaging plate. A phase transition was observed to take place at around 40 GPa, and the Rietveld analysis showed that the h igh-pressure phase has GdFeO3-type orthorhombic structure, which is also on e of the distorted perovskite structures.
