The observed linear magnetoresistance along the c axis in underdoped YBa2Cu
3O6+delta with H parallel to c is explained as a consequence of reduced coh
erence between resonant tunneling through different centers due to Landau q
uantization of the transverse motion in magnetic field. The linear dependen
ce appears when only the lowest quantized state participates in tunneling,
and in this respect it resembles the quantum linear magnetoresistance in se
mimetals.
