Abstract
We study ballistic charge transport through a narrow channel connecting two compressible quantum Hall liquids at even denominator filling fractions v similar to 1/2p. We find that due to the Coulomb coupling to gapless bulk c harge excitations, the current shot noise in the channel exhibits detectabl e deviations from, yet remains close to, the prediction of the phenomenolog ical model of an impurity embedded into a Luttinger liquid with the Lutting er parameter equal to the filling factor v.
