Abstract
We study the formation cross sections of the deeply bound 1s pionic states in (d,He-3) reactions at intermediate energies. We investigate the reaction spectra for the three target nuclei Xe-136, Sn-116 and Cd-112, which invol ve the (S-1/2)(n) neutron orbit in outer shell. We conclude that the (d,He- 3) reactions at T-d = 500 MeV with Xe-136 and Sn-116 targets are the best c andidates to observe the deepest 1s pionic states with very high accuracy.
