Sv. Ratynskaia et al., A probe for measurements of electrostatic fluctuations in a low-temperature magnetized plasma, REV SCI INS, 71(3), 2000, pp. 1367-1369
A cylindrical probe with insulating end plugs for investigations of fluctua
tions of electron temperature and plasma potential is proposed. The radii o
f the metallic rod and plugs are chosen to optimize the ratio of ion satura
tion current to electron saturation current (> 1) for the probe oriented pa
rallel to the magnetic field. This probe is applicable when the electron te
mperature is much larger than the ion temperature. (C) 2000 American Instit
