Abstract
The asymmetric synthesis of the hydroindolone core (5) of the Amaryllidacea e alkaloids employing chiral bicyclic lactams is described. The vicinal qua ternary and tertiary stereocenters were assembled via an addition of lactam 14 enolate to acrolein. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved .
