Abstract
Excimer laser pulsed deposition was applied to the deposition of organic th in films on sapphire and on glass. The thin films were analyzed by X-ray di ffraction (XRD), micro-Raman spectroscopy and ESCA. It was found that the p roperties of the films were very close to that of the target materials. Str ong photoluminescence was observed for both Alq(3) and N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-b is(3-methylphenyl)-(1, 1'-biphenyl)-4,4'-diamine (TPD), indicating that las er deposition is a viable method for the deposition of these organic materi als. An interesting increase in the photoluminescent (PL) signal of Alq(3)/ GaP multi-layers was observed. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights re served.
