Abstract
This paper reports initial results from a laboratory fluidized bed rest rig where HCl gas was incorporated into the bed. The rig simulates the particl e hammering interactions between in-bed particles and tubes within bubbling fluidized bed combustors (BFBCs). A significant increase in material wasta ge rates in the presence of HCl was found at 450 degrees C as well as at 20 0 degrees C. The detrimental effect decreased with decreasing HCl concentra tion.
