The total thiophene content in seedling of Tagetes filifolia was about 53 m
g/gfw. The clones of hairy roots cultures obtained by infection with Agroba
cterium rhizogenes LBA 9402 showed considerable variations in total thiophe
ne content (27 to 11764 mu g/gfw) but all had similar patterns of the diffe
rent thiophenes. Only one clone excreted thiophenes (about 80% of total amo
unt).
