Physical characteristics of acoustic signals and peculiarities of their rec
ognition and classification in Tupaia glis are considered. The leading char
acter in recognizing various acoustic signals is the frequency filling of s
ounds. A shape of the dynamic spectrum is an accompanying characteristic. T
he temporal sound parameters and the pattern of distributing energy between
spectral maximums are used in classification of signals within the motivat
ion and topological range in Tupaia. The perception of acoustic signals in
Tupaia is of discrete character.
