Abstract
The problem of the determination of the rate constants for electron transfe r between electrodes and redox adsorbates by means of pure electrochemical methods (voltammetry) is discussed. It is demonstrated that voltammetric measurements alone are not able to fur nish unambiguous information on electron transfer to or from adsorbed speci es. Some of the model-assumptions suggested in the literature for the inter pretation of experimental data are criticised.
