Abstract
A commonplace, worthy heir of the first pages of the novel by Honre de Balz ac "Beatrix" want that the spirit of Enlightenment touched very superficial ly the elites of the town of Guerande. Nevertheless, new ideas notably in m atters of town planning not let indifferent the community of inhabitants or the representatives of central power and some of them wanted after to chan ge overturns the face of the city. However, paraphrasing William Shakespear e there was only: "Much ado about nothing."
