Abstract
Sediments are the major sink for metal pollutants in the aquatic ecosystem but also an important source for the release of them in the water. In order to assess the contribution of heavy metals to the total sediment toxicity, we set up a methodology that permits to integrate the chemical approach wi th a direct toxicological approach. Toxicological results using Microtox(R) test are compared with analytical results.
