Abstract
(1S,3R)-Austrocortirubin (3), a new naturally occurring red tetrahydroanthr aquinone, is isolated from the ethanol extract of the fungus Dermocybe sple ndida and its structure and stereochemistry are deduced by spectroscopic an d chemical methods and are confirmed by synthesis from (S)-citramalic acid (10).
