Abstract
Thiaminase I catalyzes the decomposition of thiamin under basic conditions in the absence of the nucleophilic cosubstrate. The product of this reactio n was identified as the adduct resulting from the displacement of the thiaz ole moiety of thiamin by the ring opened form of thiamin. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
