Abstract
Two kinds of covalently tethered fullerene monolayers, which exhibit the ph otoelectric conversion property, are reported. The monolayers were fabricat ed on hydrophilic indium-tin oxide (ITO), quartz, and mica by an esterifica tion reaction and characterized by contact angle, AFM, UV spectrum, and cyc lic voltammetry. The thicknesses of the films calculated by the MM2 molecul ar mechanics method were in good agreement with the results of AFM, indicat ing the formation of monolayers. The photoelectric conversion properties of both monolayers were studied. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights re served.
