Vs. Barashenkov, Monte Carlo simulation of ionization and nuclear processes initiated by hadron and ion beams in media, COMP PHYS C, 126(1-2), 2000, pp. 28-31
A mathematical model describing interactions of mesons, nucleons and light
and heavy ion beams with multi-component targets possessing practically an
arbitrary geometry is developed. The model is based on an intranuclear casc
ade mechanism with evaporation and fission of highly excited residual after
cascade nuclei. Non-linear effects due to the influence of an accumulation
of newly produced nuclides are taken into account. The model can be applied
to beams with energies from several tens of MeV up to several tens of GeV
(per nucleon in the case of ions). Using this model, one can calculate radi
ation damage in electronic setups, the heat production due to ionization an
d fission processes, spatial and energy distributions of neutrons and produ
ced isotopes, coefficients of neutron multiplication and energy gain for el
ectronuclear reactors. One can investigate the time of various energetic sy
stems. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
