D. Michaloudis et al., Idiopathic prolonged QT interval and QT dispersion: the effects of propofol during implantation of cardioverter-defibrillator, EUR J ANAES, 16(12), 1999, pp. 842-847
Local anaesthesia combined with conscious sedation is becoming a popular te
chnique for implantation of cardioverter-defibrillator devices. Propofol wa
s given to provide loss of consciousness during defibrillation shock admini
stration, for induced ventricular fibrillation testing. Propofol was found
to decrease QT interval and QT dispersion in two patients with idiopathic p
rolonged QT interval and QT dispersion. The findings of the procedure are r
eported.
