The purpose of this paper is to present an assessment of the stability anal
ysis of large DC solid-state power systems which are used in spacecraft, su
ch as the International Space Station (ISS) and other satellites. This pape
r will address the fundamental problems faced in the stability studies of t
hese systems, both prior to, and after, their implementation. Furthermore,
a brief description of the type of system, definitions of large-signal and
small-signal stability which are applicable to these types of systems, meth
ods of system modeling and simulation, concept of negative impedance instab
ility, and recommendations on methods of stability analysis for these syste
ms will be given.
