Review of structural and functional characteristics of greenhouses in European Union countries, part II: Typical designs

The most characteristic greenhouse designs used in six European Union count ries contributing to this work are presented in detail. Their advantages an d disadvantages are critically described in relationship to the data presen ted in the first part of this work. In this way the origin of the various g reenhouse designs is clarified and the influence of climate, availability o f construction materials, tradition, and local regulations is analysed. The outcome of this work may be utilized to improve the various greenhouse des igns dominating the European market. (C) 2000 Silsoe Research Institute.
