Abstract
Let k be a field of characteristic p, and let S-n be the symmetric group of degree n. Assume that n < 3p. Let A be the centralizer in kS(n) of kS(n-1) . We find all simple A-modules, and relate the number of non-projective sim ple A-modules to p-local information. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
