K. Konopka et al., The generation of dislocations from twin boundaries and its effect upon the flow stresses in FCC metals, J MATER PR, 99(1-3), 2000, pp. 255-259
This paper is concerned with an analysis of the variation of flow stresses
with the frequency of twin boundaries present in the microstructure of copp
er and austenitic steel. The increase of the frequency of twin boundaries r
esults in a reduction of the flow stresses. This effect is explained in ter
ms of dislocations being generated at the twin boundaries. The source of th
e dislocation generation from these boundaries was found during in situ str
ain experiments under the transmission electron microscope. The direct obse
rvations of dislocations generated from twin boundaries are presented in th
e paper. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
