Abstract
The link between serum insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and postmenopau sal osteoporosis remains controversial. In this study of healthy postmenopa usal women, decreased serum concentrations of IGF-1 were strongly associate d with an increased risk of osteoporotic fractures independently of bone-mi neral density.
