Abstract
A full-vectorial finite-element propagation method, spurious mode free, wit h off-diagonal elements in the permittivity tensor is presented for the fir st time. Comparison with experimental data obtained from the alignment of t he principal axes in birefringent fibers validates the method. (C) John Wil ey & Sons, Inc.
