Abstract
Sinusoidal and triangular patterns etched in the ground plane of a microstr ip line are proved to suppresss the periodicity in the frequency response t hat arises in the recently proposed photonic bandgap microstrip structures wit discrete periodic patterns. Experimental data show a reduction in the h armonic level of around 50 dB for the novel patterns proposed. (C) 2000 Joh n Wiley & Sons, Inc.
