From the analysis of monthly samples caught at different depths, the follow
ing results were obtained. The Northern Shrimp spawns eggs in March and Apr
il, and hatches larvae in January and February after a ovigerous period of
about 10 months. The species spawns every other year. Similar characteristi
cs were found for the ovigerous period and spawning interval among populati
ons living in cold waters. The reproduction strategy of this species is to
spawn many eggs per clutch in spite of its slow growth rate and late spawni
ng age.
