Abstract
Addition of the dipotassium salt of 2,2'-bis-p-tolylsulfonamido-1,1'-binaph thyl (K-2[BINA(NTs)(2)]) to Mo(NAr)(CHCMe2Ph)(OTf)(2)(dme) (Ar = 2,6-i-Pr2C 6H3; OTf = OSO2CF3), Mo(N-2-CF3C6H4)(CHCMe2Ph)(OTf)(2)(dme), and Mo(N-2-CF3 C6H4)(CH-t-Bu)(OTf)(2)(dme) gave Mo(NAr)(CHCMe2Ph)[BINA(NTs)(2)] (1a), Mo(N -2-CF3C6H4)(CHCMe2Ph)[BINA(NTs)(2)] (1b), and Mo(N-2-CF3C6H4)(CH-t-Bu)[BINA (NTs)(2)] (1c), respectively. The X-ray crystal structure of 1c showed that one sulfonyl oxygen is coordinated to the molybdenum. Related complexes, M o(NAr)(CHCM2Ph)[BINA(N-i-Pr)(2)] (2) and Mo(NAr)(CHCMe2Ph)[BINA(NTMS)(2)] ( 3), were prepared similarly. The pseudotetrahedral nature of 2 was confirme d in an X-ray study. None of these complexes reacts readily with ethylene, styrene, benzaldehyde, or diallyl ether.
