Abstract
The preferred solution conformation of the pseudodisaccharides 7-15, contai ning the structural motifs that have been proposed for the putative inosito lphosphoglycan (IPG) mediators of intracellular signalling processes, have been investigated using NMR spectroscopy and molecular mechanics calculatio ns. The results indicate that the different structural motifs (alpha and be ta 1-6 or alpha and beta 1-4 glucosaminyl-D-myo-inositol; alpha and beta 1- 6 glucosaminyl-D-chiro-inositol) adopt various three-dimensional shapes tha t may modulate their biological properties.
