Abstract
A general relationship for prediction of the volumetric oxygen transfer coe fficient (k(L)a) in a tower bioreactor utilizing immobilized Penicillium ch rysogenum as function of air superficial velocity, suspension rheological p arameters and liquid physical properties is proposed in this study. The rel ationship was applied to three different systems and a good agreement betwe en the calculated values and the experimental data was obtained.
