Abstract
Electrolytic conductivities of crystal violet based quaternary ammoniu m polyelectrolytes in very dilute solutions of dimethylformamide and d imethyl sulfoxide at 25 degrees C have been investigated. The electrol ytic conductivity (kappa) as a function of concentration for systems h aving a reduced charge density (xi) greater than unity revealed a very narrow range of linearity in the dilute region. A modest correlation has been made with the counterion condensation and the polycation conf ormations in order to explain the relative magnitude of limiting equiv alent conductivities.
