The unconventional amylolytic yeast Candida ingeniosa showed a high de
gradation efficiency of a starchy substrate. Accumulation of maltose a
nd maltotriose attained its maximal value (0.69 and 1.70gL(-1)) at con
stant bioprocess pH 5.0, after 16h of cultivation at 28 degrees C. Max
imal amylolytic activity (2.76UmL(-1)) followed maximal biomass concen
tration in batch culture. After 56h of incubation, the accumulation of
biomass reached up to 1.96gL(-1).
