The configuration of a free liquid film, free liquid filament, and the Plat
eau border in a gravitational field is studied based on the general conditi
on of the mechanical equilibrium for capillary objects. The Archimedian con
vection in the films is described. The linear tension of the unduloid and t
he Plateau border is calculated at zero and finite contact angles between t
he meniscus and the film. Gravitational field-induced deviations from the P
lateau rule for the angles between three films crossing at the horizontal P
lateau border are estimated.
