Metallothionein (MT) yields on mercury electrodes a "presodium" catalysis o
f the evolution of hydrogen, which is, as a peak-shaped signal, particularl
y well measurable in chronopotentiometry, and which is, unlike presodium ca
talytic effects of other biopolymers, strongly dependent on the presence of
cobalt ions in the solution. The behavior of the "presodium" derivative ch
ronopotentiometric peak under various experimental conditions was tested.
