Abstract
Three commercially available xylanases were tested in the bleaching of Kraft pulps from Eucaliptus globulus and Eucaliptus nitens. These xyl anase preparations, in combination with the sequence D0EOPD11, led to savings of chlorine dioxide that were in the range of 12 to 40% withou t affecting the target brightness of 90% ISO. Enzyme-treated pulps req uired slightly higher beating to reach the same freeness than the cont rols, although the strength properties of both pulps were similar.
