Abstract
This paper summarizes the structure and execution (or 'history') of the con tract between the RHIC Project at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the No rthrop Grumman Corporation for construction of the 8 cm aperture supercondu cting dipoles needed for RHIC. A total of 373 dipoles were built for a cont racted price of $43 M. Two smaller contracts for RHIC superconducting magne ts are also discussed.
