Abstract
Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the soil cover for the whole territory of Russia and its economic regions are presented. A t able of soil division is compiled on the basis of the Soil Map of the Russian Federation (scale 1 : 2.5M). The soils are named in accordance with both the traditional soil nomenclature and the new one elaborate d in the Dokuchaev Soil Institute.
