A review of the modern approaches to multi-criteria cell design

The purpose of this paper is to provide a review and comparison of the appr oaches to multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) in the design of manufactur ing cells. A brief description of existing classifications is provided, tog ether with an overview on the MCDM. Selected papers are reviewed and a stru ctured scheme is outlined which allows comparison of inputs, criteria, solu tion approaches and outputs across selected models. Finally the models are discussed and directions for new avenues of work are identified.
