A method for the identification of organic triiodides is proposed, and rapi
d, highly sensitive procedures for the extraction-spectrophotometric and ex
traction-fluorometric determination of medicinal preparations as ion associ
ates with hydroxyxanthene (Eosin) and triphenylmethane (Bromothymol Blue) d
yes. The formation of 1 : I ion associates with an absorption maximum at 54
5 nm (430 nm for ion associates with Bromothymol Blue) and a fluorescence m
aximum at 560 nm was detected. The ion associates were extracted with chlor
oform from a water-ethanol solution at pH 6.86 and 9.18, The detection limi
ts were c(min) approximate to 4.3 x 10(-7) M for the extraction-spectrophot
ometric and c(min) approximate to 8.6 x 10(-8) M for the extraction-fluorim
etric procedure; RSD less than or equal to 2%. The developed procedures can
be used for controlling medicinal preparations and monitoring biological m
aterials.
