Abstract
Illuviation coatings on coarse fragments are considered to be a specif ic, though poorly investigated, source of pedogenetic information. Thr ee types of coatings have been identified in soils of cold humid, tran sitional (semihumid-semiarid), and semiarid cryogenic landscapes of th e northern Far East. An integrated research of coatings attests to rad ically new opportunities of studying coarse fractions for morphogeneti c purposes, as compared with the studies of fine earth.
