Abstract
The magnetic properties of NdFeB thin films with perpendicular magnetic ani sotropy (PMA), deposited on Ta substrates. has been studied as a function o f thickness. The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy though exists over a wid e range of thickness, the trend indicates that the PMA would vanish at larg er values of thickness. The cause for this trend is found to be the deterio ration in the perpendicular c-axis orientation for larger values of thickne ss. The coercive force was found to increase with decreasing thickness. Thi s increase also seems to correlate with the c-axis orientation. (C) 2000 El sevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
