The X-ray crystal structures and physical characterizations of the first ra
dical cation salts obtained from the symmetrical S-position isomer of bis(e
thylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF), are presented in this work. Th
e unusual feature of this new pi-donor D1, involved in the described salts
(D1)(3).(ClO4)(2), (D1)(3).(BF4)(2) and D1 . Cu(SCN)(2), is the presence of
two disulfide bridges, allowing weak intermolecular S ... S interactions.
The influence of these outer sulfur atoms on the network of related materia
ls is also discussed in relation to the first physical characterizations wh
ich have been carried out.
