The obtained data are part of a soil monitoring study in the Leninskii
district of Moscow. Significant variations in heavy metal concentrati
on were found in the soils along the motor highways. Concentration of
lead, copper, and zinc was 2-3 times higher, and concentration of cadm
ium was two times higher than the background values. Statistically mea
ningful changes in heavy metal concentration in lawn soils of Moscow c
an be expected within the next 15 years.
