Abstract
Fermginous peat soils of lowmoor bogs are characterized by a high phos phate absorption capacity. Iron oxides play a considerable role in pho sphorus absorption, while the phosphate concentration in soils appears to be of lesser importance. The fixation rate of phosphate ions is ve ry high; the curves of absorption have a two-level pattern, reflecting two stages in the process of phosphorus absorption.
